Another important criterion of the site design was to develop the landscaping along the Campus Drive edge to integrate into the context of the Campus Drive Loop. Olives and red and white Oleanders were planted as a part of the campus identity.
The new Health Services Center was designed to provide health care, wellness and counseling services to the Stanford community. Located along Campus Drive off of Cowell Lane, the concept for the site was to develop an image for the Health Center as a campus wide destination. Site development seeks also, to develop exterior spaces that reinforce the mission of the Health Center as a place for providing supportive health care and education. To this end, a series of exterior spaces have been developed that engage the building entry and arcade. The landscape design offers choices for plaza or gardenlike settings that can accommodate activities of the Health Service Center, such as exhibitions, health fairs, outdoor classes and staff gatherings.
